Northwest Junior Pipe Band won 1st place at the Crieff Highland Gathering on the day after the World Pipe Band Championships. Our outgoing senior Juvenile Pipe Major Matt M. led the band for the first time, and accepted the award.

Twenty Four Grade 4 bands from around the world travelled to Perth, Scotland to compete. NWJPB emerged in first place, a great pick-me-up after placing in the middle at North Berwick the day before.

KZOK Radio Personality Bob Rivers is with a band called Spike & The Impalers. NWJPB pipers have performed with them a few times now. Most recently at a fundraiser for Childrens' Hospital at White River Amphitheater.

Northwest Junior Pipe Band Grade 4 made band history, taking first place in Grade 4 at the BC Highland Games in a field of seven pipe bands on Saturday June 28th. Temperatures into the 90's made the day challenging, but Grade 4 was in top form even with the heat and pressure. The Grade 5 contest was a nail biter, with Fraser Valley Youth Pipe Band winning first place, White Spot Grade 5 2nd, and NWJPB Grade 5 3rd.

St. Patrick's Day appearances on Seattle Television
Northwest Junior Pipe Band had a very busy St. Patrick's Day (week) including piping for the painting of the green stripe, various lunches and dinners around town and the big Seattle St. Patrick's Parade, as well as a special broadcast on St. Patrick's Day we were invited to by the Irish Club of Seattle. We managed to capture recordings of Komo TV and King 5 TV coverage of the events, and a short bit about the Green Stripe painting on Kiro 7. The footage is owned by Komo TV (Fischer Communications), King 5 TV (Belo Corporation), and Kiro TV 7 (Cox Enterprises).

Northwest Junior Pipe Band was asked to perform at the Mercer Island Half Marathon on March 9th. The runners appreciated the music, dozens of them popped earphones out of their ears to listen as they came over the hill and saw the band playing.

Sunday March 24th, NWJPB performed at a benefit for The Washingotn Chinese Youth Orchestra and NWJPB's Scotland trip. It was an entertainment-filled evening with Lion Dancers, Chinese Dancers, Cape Breton Fiddler, the Chinese Youth Orchestra and more.

The Experience Music Project | Science Fiction Museum hired Northwest Junior Pipe Band to perform for Family Day on December 15, 2007. We played the Sky Church stage, and the Bucketmen peformed after the band.

The St. Andrews/Caledonian Society of Seattle hired NWJPB to perform at a special event celebrating St. Andrews' Day and featuring multiple Scottish Music and Dance acts.

The Bucketmen went into the studio at Seattle Drum School of Music and recorded several tracks to produce a demo CD.

August 25th: Northwest Junior Pipe Band was sponsored by the John Whims Nationwide Agency in Monroe for the Monroe Fair Days parade. Following that, we performed at the Evergreen State Fair.

The Bucketmen were hired to perform in a park in Renton in August. Kids came up to get some time on buckets, there was spontaneous dancing, and some great hats!

NWJPB placed 2nd of 6 Grade 4 bands, and Solo Pipers won Aggregate for the day in Grade 3 and Grade 4 piping.

Day 1 of the Skagit Valley Highland Games, NWJPB Grade 5 placed 1st in the Quick March Medley, NWJPB Grade 4 placed fourth of 6 bands. NWJPB Grade 4 would go on to take 2nd place in the Washington State Championships for Grade 4.

Northwest Junior Pipe Band members marched in the Seafair Wallingford Kiddies Parade and won "Best Marching Band". Six or seven members joined NWJPB in their first parade and the band had a great time.

Asked to perform by the Eastside Heritage Center, NWJPB played to a large crowd under threatening skies at the Bellevue Strawberry Festival on Sunday, June 24th, 2007. Joining the band for some Highland Dancing was the Eastside Heritage Center's Director, Heather J. Trescases and her sister.

NWJPB was invited by the Washington State Golf Association and the Northwest Golf Association to perform at the transfer of ownership of The Home Course to their non-profit organizations. June 22, 2007

Grade 5 played for comments and sounded great. Grade 4 took 1st place in quartets and 1st place in the Medley competition against 6 other bands.

Following the games, NWJPB performed at a band family's house and had a fun picnic.

NWJPB Grade 5 won their first competition of the season! We sponsored a "feeding frenzy" for White Spot, Sir James Mcdonald, and Fraser Valley Youth Pipe Bands and had a great day.

Steve Roy Drumming was conatacted by Sound Transit and they invited the Bucketmen and NWJPB to perform at the grand opening celebration of the Canyon Park freeway station.

Supported by a Grant from the Greater Everett Community Foundation, NWJPB is performing at several Snohomish County schools this year. We have fun introducing young kids to our instruments and showing them how to play them!

Pinewood is the "Alma Mater" grade school of one of our Junior High-aged Pipers.

Most NWJPB members worked hard all week and pulled off a very successful rehearsal. Cool lighting, learning cues, trying to remember everything we've been cramming in about which songs go where...it was a fun evening. We had a potluck and the band brought wrap sandwiches and drinks! Thanks Julie!!

April 14th, 2007. The musicians really nailed most of the new music they've been practicticing so hard to get down. This was the largest fundraiser in NWJPB's history, grossing over $11,000.00 to start our Scotland Fundraising for our 2008 trip to the World Pipe Band Championships.

The first competition of the season, the chance to test-drive the music. Most bands are "almost ready" but it's a great and supportive event. NWJPB received very positive comments. We placed 4th, but out of 4 bands (5, but one scratched), there was a possible spread of 24 points between first and fourth, there were only 5 points difference! It was a great event, and very close. NWJPB was ranked first and second by two of the piping judges, and 2nd by one ensemble judge. Considering half the Grade 4 band has never competed in this grade before, an awesome first showing!

One of our newest drummers families held a St. Patrick's Day Party and celebration of the life of his Grandmother who passed away at the end of 2006. They put on a heck of a party and invited a couple pipers and drummers to participate. We had a great time. The family raised over $350.00 to donate to the band's Scotland, 2008 fund. You should have seen him play at his first performance!

WPA set a record for the most competitors at an event in recent years with over 40 competitors. NWJPB Fielded FIFTEEN competitors (which is probably also a record), and two of our instructors competed as well. NWJPB members placed in every event we entered!

For those in the band hearty and brave enough...we had a terrifyingly fun band trip to Snohomish Stocker Farms Sunday October 29th. While it was blowing and raining during the day, the skies cleared and it wasn't windy when we got there. It was cold, though. :)

Rat City Roller Girls 2006 Championships, October 21. The Sockit Wenches Asked a small group of our pipers and drummers to come and "pipe them on" for their championship match. The Roller Derby was really fun to watch, the organization was really friendly, and people really loved hearing the pipes. All in all, an amazingly fun night! We donated this performance in exchange for T-shirts and admission. As unlikely as it sounds, this Roller Derby organization is a relatively family-friendly event. Check out their code of conduct

Washington Scottish invited us to join them for a performance before the Seahawks/Giants Game September 25, 2006. We had a lot of fun, and got to play in front of more than 60,000 fans in the Anthem ceremony, marching out with the giant Canadian and American flags.

NWJPB filmed a public service announcement on June 28th, appeared at Redmond Derby Days and was filmed for Redmond TV Channel 21, and during the Portland Highland Games, a piper and drummer were filmed for KGW TV in Portland while practicing. That's 3 tv appearances in one season!

Whidbey Island Highalnd Games. Grade 5 and Grade 4 bands competed together and placed 2nd! Best Drum Corps: NWJPB (for the second win this year!). Our quartet placed 1st!

Played the Bucket Salute, Cuban Rhythm and other fun tunes Friday night.
Saturday, Our Quartet took 2nd place, and the band took 5th of 8 bands, with the Drum Corps placing 3rd!
